The big cast of the floor is amazing. We managed to use the projector proprely and the image is clear ! I'm quite happy, the only thing we still have to do is pint our favorite image of our sketchbook( we will put them under the cast because if we project on the cast we can't see the film at all.) and set eveything up tomorrow morning and it will be all goooood !
I am happy with the result it's so amazing !
I can't wait to put everything together tomorrow !
A little explanation :
Our whole project had been on making people see the corridor as a place of inspirations rather than a throroughfare, so we decided to look closely at the surfaces/textures, sounds and lights in order to gain inspiration. We've putted strings across the corridor in order to force people to interact with the corridor and interrupt their automatic walk, forcing them to see the corridor in a new way.
The latex and the film shows close ups of our spaces and how we looked beyond what a normal eye and ear could see into the textures and sounds showing what they could really see if they stopped and looked at the corridor in a more attentive way. Every shots have been filmed in the corridor and you couldn't really say that because it is a whole new dimension of it. Close ups on the things that surronds us can totally change our vision of the actual space we pass throught.
The colors, the way of filming and the editing is made so the spectator feel something when he sees it. The sounds hasen't been finished but I don't think I agree totally on it to be honest... After seeing the finished video I wanted something either only talking (maybe explanation of the work) or just sounds but from brutal to delicate but that we still stayed in our dimensions. From what I've heard it's gonna be a sort of hard coming back on Earth kind of thing. But maybe the contrast is what is intersting, it is a creative choice so I can't say it's bad, I'm just saying if I did it alone I wouldn't have done it that way.
So for me the end piece is a very delicate sophisticated video, I don't even think we need to put a whole installation around it but then we have to put blackouts curtains in order to isolate the video ( bit like a spaceship; that's how I like to think of it at least), but the others in my group didn't agree on the curtains they said it was very visible that way so... The perks of working in groups yay..
But anyway I think it's a very nice work for a not even 2 weeks project with people I didn't knew and couldn't figure out how their minds woked etc.
We are still putting 'snapshots' of our journal under the cast (another dimensions in our journals too ! ).
For now I can't say much more to be honest !
I am ahppy with the outcome and I will definitly make more video in the future ! I am a fine art person even if I'm in illustration, I try to be as open as I can be and fine art and abstract videos are really something I would love to explore someday !
Little slef-evaluation
I think I had difficulties fitting in at first but then it all worked out and we worked as a group, everyone had their things and did it, and the ideas were brainstormed. I had fun really, and I made new firends!
I learned some techniques and new ways of thinking. I think I've evolved and even if there was some things I wanted to do other way maybe it's good I change a bit my style and also I was really out of my compfort zone and I think I did pretty well.
I also enjoyed doing the journal. I took a blog as a support and I think it fit well for this project because there is a lot of digital things that I can't put in a sketchbook, which frustrated me a lot (because I first started with a sketchbook).
This project learned me to go away of my compfort zone is always nice and I might actually learn stuff so I shouldn't be scared. I also learned that I can tottally get along with a group of people and add my ideas to theirs and make a mix od everything to arrive to a satisfying outcome !
I think it was a nice project and it wasn't as bad as some students say it was, but it was too short, to meet the people, 'get' them, and then really make something finished. Because our piece is finished but not completely, with 4 weeks maybe we could have thought more about the impact on the spectato and how to present it to him so we can communicate the right feelings.
But overall I think we digged deep enough in the concept part and the explanation of our work, and also in the visual really.
